By default uploads are disabled. You can change the settings for anonymous ftp using the Control panel . You, the client, are responsible for content uploaded by an Anonymous FTP user which may be in violation of our Acceptable Use Policy. If you need a particular person to be able to upload information pertaining to your website, you should consider giving them their own Web User account. They can then access the content using a URI following this syntax: http://www.yourdomainname.com/~WEBUSER/ Keep in mind that content uploaded by a web user into their home directory is "Owned" by the web user.

2. Can Anonymous FTP users move outside of the ftp directory? [ top ]

No. Anonymous FTP users are restricted to your "anon_ftp" directory located in the root of your account. These users cannot move below this directory. However, they can move into directories inside of your "anon_ftp" directory.

The Acceptable Uses Policy applies to not only content on your website, but any content made available to Anonymous FTP users or uploaded by Anonymous FTP users. Please respect all international copyrights and do not distribute work that is not your own or work of which you do not have permission to freely distribute.

4. Why is the Anonymous FTP button greyed out in the control panel? [ top ]

In order to use Anonymous ftp you need to obtain a unique IP address for your account. The Commerce and Business servers come preconfigured with a unique IP. Please submit a support ticket and we will make the nescessary changes to your account. There is a $25 setup charge and a $5 per month additional charge for each IP address requested.
